Club Supports Homeless Vets
The Wakefield Rotary Club recently completed its clothing drive to benefit homeless veterans. In partnership with volunteer Marine Corps veteran and advocate Jim Carbone, the club collected over $5,000 worth of gently warn or new clothing for both men and women. All donations were delivered by Carbone to the New England Center for Homeless Veterans in Boston. The center then distributes to local partners and support agencies in the area. Wakefield Club Vice President and Air Force Veteran Bob Kimball commented, “This is just one of the projects we want to do over the next two years to support our local warriors and families. We also invite all active duty military and veterans of any age to feel comfortable with reaching out to our club with suggestions on how to help.” He continued, “Our club has over a dozen veterans and we are all committed to honoring our heros.”
The club would like to thank its drop off location partners Dockside, Holiday Travel, Wakefield House of Pizza, HD Physical Therapy, and Local Gas Station for their support. Members would also like to thank the residents of Wakefield, friends and family for their generous donations and Jim Carbone for his partnership and commitment.
