The Wakefield Rotary Club recently installed its new officers and directors during a luncheon event earlier this week at Brightview. In accordance with its by-laws, the service club elects new leadership annually. Club President Glen Duffy was sworn in as President for the 2023-2024 Rotary Year and Wendy Maguire will serve as Vice President/President-Elect. “This club has been so welcoming since I joined a few years ago. I’m thrilled to serve in this position as we begin our one hundred and first year of service.”

In addition, the club installed its incoming Board of Directors including Margie Daniels, Ed Harding, Michael Sullivan, David Hayden, and Amy Luckiewicz. Suzanne Bowering will serve as Club Secretary, Barbara Worley as Club Treasurer and Frank Fiorentino as Sergeant-at-Arms. The new leadership team took office on July 1, 2023 and serve until June 30, 2024.

The club also presented Paul Harris Fellowship awards to Jim Fitzgerald, John Tramontozzi, and Norm Theriault for their support of the Rotary Foundation. The Rotary Foundation serves to support programs in the areas of peace and conflict resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy, economic and community development and protecting the environment.

The Rotary International Theme for 2023-24 is Create Hope in the World. Rotary International President Gordon R. McInally selected the theme to urge members to create hope in the world by working for peace and mental wellbeing.
