Wakefield Rotary is proud to be part of the NO MOW MAY initiative that is happening nationwide.  This initiative is about bringing awareness to the importance of pollinators (bees, butterflies, and more) and the impact they have on the sustainability of our food sources.  However, if not mowing your lawn is too extreme, there is room for compromise.  Think about not using fertilizers or pesticides.  Or leave your leaves, and let those pollinators that are living in them have a place to stay.

Nature is pretty self-sufficient when you let it do its thing. Allowing your outdoor space to be less tidy (and more attractive to woodland creatures) means less lawn maintenance for you, and more time enjoying your backyard’s natural ecosystem.

There are many ways to take part in helping our pollinators.  A simple google search of NO MOW MAY will bring you to several ways to participate or check out this one minute video
Want to keep your landscaping? Have your contractor participate in MOW TALL MAY and have them keep the cutting to 4″ or taller in May!
